On May 31, 2026, the Overseas Myanmar Professionals and Entrepreneurs Association (OMPEA) successfully hosted the “Myanmar × Japan Professionals Networking Afternoon” at Nimo’s Kitchen in Chiba City, Japan.
The event brought approximately 30 participants, including Japanese business leaders, professionals, educators, Myanmar professionals living together in Japan, students, and working adults.
The objective of the event was to promote meaningful connections and mutual understanding between Japanese society and the Myanmar community in Japan.
To encourage deeper conversations, participants were assigned to mixed tables consisting of both Japanese and Myanmar attendees. Interactive discussion sessions were organized around topics such as:
The future relationship between Myanmar and Japan
The most surprising experiences while working in Japan
Challenges faced in professional life
Personal goals for the next three years
Collaboration between Japanese companies and international talent
Throughout the afternoon, participants actively exchanged ideas, experiences, and perspectives in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Many attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet people from different professional and cultural backgrounds, gain new insights, and expand their personal and professional networks.
Japanese participants also highlighted the event as a valuable opportunity to better understand the capabilities, aspirations, and potential contributions of Myanmar professionals living in Japan.
The number of participants in this exchange meeting was (13 Japanese, 16 Myanmar nationals, and 4 staff members).
