Tokyo, September 22, 2025 — The Overseas Myanmar Professionals and Entrepreneurs Association (OMPEA) held its official launch ceremony yesterday (September 21, 2025) at the “More Than Banquet” event space in “THE KNOT TOKYO Shinjuku,” representing Myanmar professionals and entrepreneurs living abroad.
The newly established association aims to strengthen the network among Myanmar professionals, entrepreneurs, and students living abroad, promote the exchange of knowledge, skills, and expertise, create opportunities for business collaboration, and contribute to nation-building in Myanmar through intellectual support, technology transfer, and investment.
The launch ceremony was attended by Myanmar professionals, entrepreneurs, and students residing in Tokyo. In his opening remarks, OMPEA President U Kyi Thu Shein emphasized that OMPEA serves as a platform to bring together the experiences, professional qualifications, and entrepreneurial skills of Myanmar people living abroad. He also stated that they aim to expand activities beyond Japan and gain global recognition for the talents and contributions of Myanmar people. His keynote speech was themed “Reliable Strength, Myanmar People.”
The event also introduced OMPEA’s future activity plans, including initiatives to promote collaboration, structured networking sessions, and future program plans. Participants aimed to build stronger professional and social networks through self-introductions and interactions.
In the future, OMPEA plans to host career networking programs, academic and health-related forums, expert knowledge-sharing seminars, and cultural events showcasing Myanmar traditions and cuisine throughout the year.
